Book Giveaway: Healing Walks for Hard Times

I've had trouble writing a coherent blog post lately.  Probably because I've been sick a lot this Winter.  So to help me get the ball rolling again I'm giving away 2 copies of this awesome book - Healing Walks for Hard Times:  Quiet Your Mind, Strengthen Your Body & Get Your Life Back.  Anyone with chronic illness will find this book both motivating and easy to follow.  Enter the giveaway (U.S./Canadian residents only) a number of different ways below by Friday, February 17th!

Here's a little more about this book that will help you start healing well as Spring approaches:
"Sometimes life’s hurdles literally stop us in our tracks, sapping vitality and preventing us from participating fully in our own lives and the lives of those we love. Carolyn Scott Kortge recognizes that a key to joyous re-engagement with the world can be—just as literally—to get moving again. With a focus on walking for wellness, Kortge outlines a compassionate, practical program for navigating your way through life’s physical, emotional, and spiritual hard times.
Within the supportive framework of this eight-week walking program you set your own pace, taking steps that restore a sense of balance and order, even if you’re weighed down by the lethargy and loss of control that often accompany illness, depression, or trauma. Discover how to link mental focus with physical movement to create healing periods of stress release. Learn to match your steps with meditation in a way that clears a path through confusion. Move forward, literally, both in good times and in tough ones, with mental and physical steps that lead you away from fear or stress and guide you toward wellness and peace. Engage in a path to recovery that attends to not just the physical, but also acknowledges healing as an emotional, spiritual, and mental journey—a journey of survivorship."

  5. Been struggling with chronic back pain since I turned 21. In 2009, I suffered a debilitating back injury that left me completely disabled, lying in bed 24/7 for 18 months. My boyfriend cooked, cleaned, dressed me and carried me to the bathroom during this difficult time.My BF has taught me True Love is about showing Support, providing Hope, and giving unconditional Love to your partner in good times and bad.

Thank you for the amazing opportunity to read this book!

  10. I have just begun this winter to walk, not so much for exercise, as for inner peace and strength. Also, I have learned that walking helps move old "stuck" emotions out of my body and make room for healing. I am really intrigued by this book. If I don't win, I will still buy it. Have had CFS and Fibromyalgia since I was 23 (am now 40). It has been an interesting, educational, humbling, amazing, perplexing and horrifying journey. I am stronger for it, that I know. Thank you for this wonderful blog.

    Blessings and Peace to you!

  11. I've started walking again, but it's hard with the Fibromyalgia and scoliosis, I feel as if I can't really do a lot. It's pretty bad when your dog pulls you and you have to take a break because your muscles are on fire, and your back feels like it did when you threw it out a couple weeks ago. I think this book would help me gain an idea of what I should be doing to make my life better, both physically, and mentally. I do feel a little better with the fresh air, but I'm just so tired from work, it's hard for me to find motivation to get out there. Thanks for the amazing offer, even if I don't win it I think I'll be adding this to my must haves for my personal library. :D

  19. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest. Among one of my many health problems on is pain in my feet caused by fibromyalgia. I'm receiving acupuncture, which is helping with the pain, an am able to walk without as much pain as before. I'm in pain everywhere and need to get moving as I know it will help me. I've lost 75 lbs due to 3 surgeries in 8 months and while glad to have lost the weight I need to strenghten my muscles as I haven't been moving much.
